1 Who we are
Level (“Level”, the “App”) is a macOS application for building corporate group structure charts. It is created and provided by Elijah Wong (“we”, “us”, “our”), an individual developer. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App and this website do and do not process, and your rights in relation to it.

2 What we do not collect
We have designed Level so that we do not receive your information in the first place. In ordinary use, the App:
- does not collect the content of your charts — entity names, jurisdictions, officers, shareholders, ownership percentages, remarks and any other details you enter stay on your device;
- requires no account — there is no sign-up, login or profile;
- makes no network connections of its own — it works fully offline;
- contains no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs — we do not build usage profiles, we do not use cookies inside the App, and we do not sell or share personal data (we have none to sell or share).
Because we do not collect this information, we also do not use it for any secondary purpose, and there is nothing for us to disclose to third parties.
3 Where your data is stored
Your workspace and every chart are saved in a single file inside Level’s private data folder on your Mac. The exact location depends on how you installed Level — the Mac App Store version keeps it inside the app’s sandboxed container — but in every case the file stays on your device.
You control this file completely. You can back it up, move it, or delete it, and you can export a chart at any time as an SVG, JPG, PDF or PNG image, or as portable JSON, using the App’s Export and File menus. These exports are generated locally on your device; creating or saving them does not transmit anything to us.
A small amount of app state — such as your acceptance of these legal terms and your unlock status — is stored locally on your device (for example in the App’s local storage). This never leaves your Mac.
4 Information handled by Apple
Level is distributed through the Mac App Store. When you download the App or make a purchase, that transaction is handled by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy, not by us. We never see or receive your name, Apple ID, email address or payment card details.
Apple may make available to us, through App Store Connect, limited reports such as aggregated sales figures and — only where you have chosen to share diagnostics with developers — anonymised or aggregated app-analytics and crash reports. Where any such information reaches us it is aggregated and not intended to identify you, and we use it only to understand overall download numbers and to fix problems in the App.
5 In-app purchases
Level is free to use with one chart. Unlimited charts are unlocked by “Level Up”, a one-time (non-consumable) in-app purchase processed by Apple through StoreKit. When you buy or restore Level Up, the App receives only your entitlement status (whether the unlock is owned) from Apple. We do not receive or store your payment information. Restoring a previous purchase relies on your Apple ID and is handled entirely by Apple.
6 Third-party components
The App is built with open-source software components that run locally on your device and do not, in the shipped App, send your data anywhere. Typefaces used in the App are bundled with it, so the App does not contact any font or content delivery network. If a future version of the App introduces any feature that would transmit data off your device, we will update this policy and, where appropriate, ask for your consent before that feature is used.
7 This website
This website exists to describe Level and to link to the App.
To understand how the site is used, we measure aggregate traffic with our own privacy-preserving analytics — written and run by us, using no cookies and no third-party analytics service. When you open a page, we record the page address, the site you arrived from (if any), and an approximate country. To estimate how many distinct people visit, without identifying anyone, we derive a one-way value from your IP address and browser type combined with a secret that changes every day; we do not store your IP address itself, and because that secret rotates daily this value cannot be used to recognise you from one day to the next or to build a profile of you. The results are aggregated, kept only within our own hosting environment, and used solely to understand overall traffic. We set no cookies and show no advertising on this site.
The website includes a contact form; using it is entirely optional. When you submit it, what you enter (your name, email, message and any attachment) is processed by Netlify, which hosts this website and handles its form submissions, and is delivered to us by email. We use it only to respond to you, and you can always email us directly instead.
Like any website, the hosting provider that serves these pages may also record standard technical logs (such as your IP address and browser type) for security and reliability.
8 Security
Because your chart data stays on your own device, its security depends primarily on the security of that device. We recommend keeping macOS up to date, using full-disk encryption (FileVault) and protecting your device with a strong password. When you move chart data between machines — for example by exporting JSON — you are responsible for how that copy is transferred and stored.
9 Children
Level is a professional tool intended for use by adults, in particular legal and finance professionals. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. As explained above, we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone through the App.
10 Your rights under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance
This policy is provided having regard to the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) of Hong Kong (the “PDPO”). Under the PDPO you generally have the right to ask whether we hold personal data about you, to access and correct that data, and to know our data-handling policies and practices.
In practice, we do not maintain any database of personal data about users of the App, so in most cases there is no personal data held by us to access or correct. If you nevertheless send us information — for example, by emailing us for support — we will use it only to respond to you, keep it no longer than necessary for that purpose, and not use it for direct marketing. You can exercise your rights, or ask any privacy question, by contacting us at info@levelchart.com; we may need to verify your identity before responding.
11 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if the App changes or the law changes. When we make a material change, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where the change affects how the App handles your data, the App may ask you to review and accept the updated terms before you continue using it. Your continued use of the App after an update takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
12 Governing law & Jurisdiction
This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Any disputes arising from this policy will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Hong Kong courts.
