Purpose-built

Everything a group chart needs — nothing that gets in the way

Generic flowchart tools, PowerPoint slides, and Excel grids weren't made for corporate structures. Level is. Every field, line, and shortcut is shaped around how legal and finance teams actually work.

Entities & ownership links

Model companies, individuals, trusts, partnerships, foundations, funds and branches — connected by ownership links with editable percentage labels.

Detail that matters

Capture jurisdiction, directors, shareholders and free-text remarks on every card — the register behind the picture, kept in one place.

Ownership integrity checks

Level flags when incoming holdings don't total 100% — so an under-owned or over-owned entity never slips through a review unnoticed.

Point-in-time views

Set an "as-at" date and Level rewinds names, officers and holdings to how the structure stood then — perfect for historic reorganisations.

Themes & dark mode

Five colour themes plus a full dark mode. Categorise cards by jurisdiction or entity type to make complex groups instantly readable.

Export anywhere

Save charts as vector SVG, print-ready PDF or PNG. Move structures between machines as portable JSON — nothing gets locked in.

Every entity, modelled properly

Not everything is a company. Level knows the difference.

A trust isn’t a company; a fund isn’t a branch. Each entity type comes with its own template — the right roles and detail fields already in place, from directors and shareholders to trustees, settlors, general partners, and beneficiaries.

Make it yours

Your entities. Your fields.

Every template is a starting point, not a straitjacket. Customize the roles and detail fields per jurisdiction — rename a role, add the details you actually track — so a Cayman fund and a Hong Kong company each capture exactly what truly matters to you.

Private by design

Your group structure is confidential.
It should stay yours.

Level makes no network connections. There are no accounts to create, no servers to trust, and nothing to leak. Everything you build lives in a single file on your own machine.

  • Works fully offlineOpen it on a plane, behind a firewall, or air-gapped — it just works.
  • No cloud, no telemetryNothing is uploaded, synced, analysed or phoned home. Ever.
  • You hold the fileBack it up, archive it, or delete it — you control every copy.
A blue glass padlock — Level keeps your group structure private and on your Mac.
Four steps

From blank canvas
to boardroom-ready

No templates to fight and no manual alignment.
See how effortlessly a complex corporate structure comes together.

1

Add your entities

Drop companies and other entities onto the canvas and fill in jurisdiction, officers and shareholders as you go. Each card carries its own register of details.

2

Connect the ownership

Draw ownership links between cards and label each with its percentage. Level checks the maths as you build, so holdings that don't total 100% never slip through.

3

Click into a card for the detail

Every card carries its own register — directors, shareholders, registered address, share capital, remarks. The chart stays the clean picture; the detail lives one click beneath it.

4

Export & share

Fit the chart to the window, then export a clean SVG, PDF, JPG or PNG for the memo, the board pack or the data room.
Done — usually in a single sitting.

Time-travel your structure

Your structure is a chronicle.
Scroll through its history.

Every change you record — an entity joining, a share transfer, a subsidiary divested — is dated. Level keeps your group as a living, chronological record. Just scroll, and watch the chart move from the past through to today: who existed, who owned what, and by how much, exactly as it stood then.

From a departmental budget perspective, paying — let alone subscribing — for a chart-drawing tool is hard to justify. So Level doesn't cram in fancy features to sell a paid tier. The free version includes every feature, limited to one group structure — sufficient for general corporate use.

Questions, answered

What platforms does Level run on?

Level is a native macOS app — a universal binary that runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. There are no complex installers or setups—just a clean, one-click download straight from the Mac App Store.
Spoiler alert: We are actively working on a Windows version.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. Level makes no network connections at all. Your charts are stored in a single local file (chart.json) inside your user Library folder and never leave your device.

Is it a subscription?

No. The free version includes every feature, limited to one group structure — which covers most corporate internal use. If you need more structures, Level Up is a single one-time in-app purchase. There are no recurring fees, ever.

Can I move charts between machines?

Yes. Use File → Export JSON to save a portable .level.json file, then Import JSON on the other Mac. Your visual exports (SVG, PDF, PNG, JPG) are separate, for sharing the picture itself.

Who makes Level?

Level is built by Elijah Wong, an in-house counsel who knows firsthand that subscribing to charting apps is budget nonsense, and that total confidentiality for corporate structures is mandatory. Since Level is a one-man project, your ideas and feedback are highly appreciated to help make the app better. Feel free to share your thoughts directly with Elijah.
